Skoda to Introduce Sub 4 Meter SUV in India

Skoda is all set to introduce Sub 4 meter compact SUV in India. The vehicle is likely to be rolled in 2025. This will be Skoda’s first sub 4 metre car after the Czech automaker had discontinued Fabia in 2013. Let’s get to know this vehicle’s likely specs and price.

Skoda has managed to fared decently well with its India 2.0 Project – of which Kushaq and Virtus were part of. Both the cars have decent sales figure along with their VW counterparts – Taigun and Virtus. Skoda under its “Project 2.5” will now be introducing Comapct SUV that will be more or less a younger version of Kushaq. It will be based on the same MQB A0 IN platform that underpins Kushaq and Slavia.

Expectations

Powertrain

The new SUV is likely to be powered by 1.0 TSI engine that produces 114 BHP and 178 Nm of Torque. It is unlikely that Skoda will also use 1.5L TSI engine for this car owing to taxation rules. However we would love to have 1.5L TSI. Don’t We?

Safety

Since both Skoda and Volkswagen are known for their build quality and safety, we expect the car to be equipped with safety features and likely score well on the GNCAP and BNCAP.

Pricing

As the car would be less than 4 meter and would likely have 1.0L engine, we expect Skoda to price this vehicle aggressively to heat up the already crowded Sub 4 meter space.

Competitors

The Skoda Sub 4 meter SUV would be competing against the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. It remain to be seen whether VW would be launching its Skoda Sub 4 metre counterpart.
