  • GX, GX+, and VX variants are available in both 7- and 8-seat configurations.
  • The ZX trim remains 7-seater only.

Engine and Performance

Powering the Innova Crysta is Toyota’s proven 2.4-litre diesel engine, producing around 148–150 bhp and 343 Nm of torque. The engine is paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission, driving the rear wheels. Notably, there is no automatic gearbox option on offer.

Features and Equipment

Despite its age, the Innova Crysta continues to offer a functional and practical feature set, including:

  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Analogue instrument cluster with TFT MID
  • Automatic climate control with rear AC vents
  • Powered driver seat
  • Diamond-cut alloy wheels
  • LED headlamps
  • One-touch tumble seats and foldable seat-back trays

Safety Package

On the safety front, the MPV comes equipped with:

  • Up to 7 airbags (3 standard across variants)
  • ABS with EBD
  • Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
  • Hill-start assist
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Rear parking camera

The Innova Crysta has also secured a five-star rating in ASEAN NCAP testing, though it does not offer ADAS features.

What Lies Ahead

The current-generation Innova Crysta has been on sale since 2016 and is expected to remain in Toyota’s lineup until 2027, after which it will be phased out to comply with upcoming CAFE-3 emission norms.

In the Indian market, it competes with models such as the Innova Hycross, Maruti Suzuki Invicto, and Kia Carens, though the Crysta continues to appeal strongly to buyers prioritising durability, ride comfort, and long-term reliability.
