BYD Seal EV Launch : BYD, the Shenzhen-based company, is gearing up to launch its third electric car, the Seal EV, in India on March 5, 2024. The Seal EV joins BYD’s existing electric offerings in India, including the Atto 3 and e6 MPV.
BYD Seal EV Overview
The Seal EV was introduced globally and will compete with the Tesla Model 3. It features a sleek design with an impressive aero drag coefficient of 0.219Cd. The car’s dimensions include a length of 4,800 mm, width of 1,875 mm, and height of 1,460 mm. The electric sedan is built on the e-Platform 3.0, offering a boot space of 400 liters and a 53 liters cargo volume for the frunk.
BYD Seal EV : Battery, Range & Performance
Equipped with Blade battery technology, the Seal EV offers two battery pack options. The smaller 61.4 kWh battery provides a range of 550 kilometers, while the larger 82.5 kWh battery extends the range up to 700 kilometers on a single charge. The Seal EV boasts fast charging capabilities of up to 150 kW for the larger pack and 110 kW for the smaller one. It features single PMS and dual motor options, delivering a combined output of 523 bhp and achieving 0-100 kmph in 3.8 seconds.The BYD Seal is built on the e-Platform 3.0 and shared with the BYD Atto 3. It features rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain options.

The Seal EV has a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch screen, and inbuilt driver assistance features such as Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking.
BYD Seal EV Expected Price
Positioned to compete with premium electric models like Kia EV6 and BMW i4 in India, the expected price of the BYD Seal EV ranges between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom).
