Kia is gearing up to introduce a new premium offering in its MPV lineup—the Kia Clavis, set to debut in India on May 8, 2025. While the official launch is just around the corner, some dealerships have already started accepting offline pre-launch bookings, stirring excitement among prospective buyers.

A Premium Sibling to the Carens
The Clavis is positioned as a more upmarket alternative to the Kia Carens, with which it will share showroom space. Targeting families seeking a more refined MPV experience, the Clavis is expected to start at around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in competition with models like the Toyota Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross (lower trims), and Maruti Invicto, as well as more affordable MPVs like the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, and Toyota Rumion.
Bold Styling with Modern Touches
From the outside, the Clavis brings a refreshed design language. Up front, it sports three-pod LED projector headlights housed in triangular enclosures with striking LED DRLs, reminiscent of the EV6. The blacked-out grille, rugged bumpers, and silver faux skid plates add to its road presence. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps with a sleek illuminated light bar provide a contemporary touch.
Tech-Laden Interior (Expected)
While Kia has kept the interior under wraps, it’s likely that the Clavis will borrow heavily from the Kia Syros in terms of tech and layout. Expected features include a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof—already confirmed in the teaser.
In terms of safety, the Clavis will offer 6 airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and an ADAS suite for enhanced driving assistance.
Under the Hood
Though not officially confirmed, the Clavis is expected to share its engine options with the Carens:
- 1.5L Naturally Aspirated Petrol (115 PS, 144 Nm)
- 1.5L Turbo Petrol (160 PS, 253 Nm)
- 1.5L Diesel (116 PS, 250 Nm)
Transmission options will likely include:
- 6-speed Manual Transmission
- 6-speed iMT
- 6-speed Automatic
- 7-speed DCT (for turbo variants)
