Volkswagen has limited the first batch to just 250 units, which will be imported via the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route. Bookings can be made only through the official Volkswagen India website. Allotments will be on a first-come, first-served basis, creating a sense of urgency for enthusiasts looking to secure one.

Powertrain and Performance

The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 265 PS and 370 Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, the GTI sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h.

It also features driving modes (Sport, Comfort, Eco), progressive steering, and an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock—all of which contribute to its dynamic driving character.

Sporty Design

Visually, the Golf GTI stays true to its sporty DNA. Key exterior highlights include:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • GTI badges on the front doors
  • Dual exhaust pipes
  • 3D LED tail lamps with dynamic turn signals
  • A roof-mounted spoiler and red brake calipers

Four color options are available:

Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Premium, Moonstone Grey Black, and Kings Red Premium.

Driver-Focused Interior and Technology

Step inside, and the GTI impresses with a driver-centric, all-black cabin. Some standout features include:

  • 15-inch infotainment touchscreen with ChatGPT voice integration
  • 10.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster
  • GTI-specific steering wheel
  • Ventilated and powered sports seats
  • Iconic tartan upholstery (a nod to the GTI heritage)
  • Ambient lighting, climate control, and a head-up display (HUD)

Many of these features are shared with the Tiguan R Line, enhancing familiarity for existing VW fans.

Expected Pricing and Final Thoughts

Though the exact price is yet to be announced, it’s expected to exceed ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom) due to its CBU status. With limited availability and performance-packed features, the Golf GTI will likely appeal to enthusiasts seeking European engineering, exclusivity, and daily usability in one dynamic package.
