MG Motor is set to introduce its premium electric multi-purpose vehicle, the MG M9, in India later this month. First revealed at the Bharat Mobility Expo, the M9 is a rebadged version of the MIFA 9 and will be sold through MG’s new high-end outlet chain, MG Select. Positioned above the Kia Carnival and below the Toyota Vellfire in terms of pricing and features, the M9 will mark MG’s entry into the electric MPV segment in India.

Design and Exterior
The M9 carries a clean, upright silhouette with a focus on space and presence. Its dimensions — 5,270mm in length, 2,000mm in width, and 1,840mm in height — place it in the large MPV category, with a wheelbase of 3,200mm.
Exterior highlights include a minimalist front fascia, flush-fitting door handles, and large dual sunroofs (one standard and one panoramic). The design leans toward understated styling, with silver accents and smooth body lines instead of bold chrome elements.
Interior and Features
Inside, the M9 is configured to prioritize second-row comfort. It will be available in 6- and 7-seater layouts, with the 6-seater variant offering “Presidential” second-row seats featuring:
- 16-way adjustability
- Heating and ventilation
- 8 massage modes
- Powered leg rests
Cabin colours include cognac brown and black, paired with a floating centre console, ambient lighting, and a twin-sunroof setup. Other expected features include:
- 12-speaker audio system
- Rear entertainment screens
- Powered sliding rear doors
- Three-zone climate control
- Wireless charging
Powertrain and Range
The MG M9 is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor delivering 245PS and 350Nm of torque, powered by a 90kWh lithium-ion battery. It offers a WLTP-certified range of 430km, and supports fast charging — with a 30% to 80% charge claimed in around 30 minutes.
Safety and ADAS
The M9 is expected to offer a comprehensive safety package, including:
- 7 airbags
- 360-degree camera
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
- Front and rear parking sensors
Additionally, it will debut with Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), likely to include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking.
Positioning and Availability
MG is likely to offer the M9 in a single, feature-rich variant, with pricing expected to fall between ₹60 lakh and ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom). This would place it above the current Kia Carnival and below the Toyota Vellfire, making it a potential alternative for buyers in the premium MPV space who are considering electric options.
Bookings are now open with a token amount of ₹51,000, and deliveries are expected to begin shortly after the official launch.
