Tata Motors is preparing to launch the updated Altroz on May 22, and this is no minor refresh. The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift marks a significant mid-cycle update for the premium hatchback, which debuted in January 2020. From a sharper exterior to a more feature-rich and premium interior, this facelift positions the Altroz as a stronger contender in the increasingly competitive premium hatchback segment.

Design
The most noticeable update is to the exterior. Tata has given the Altroz a thoroughly revised front fascia, including full-LED split headlamps, a new grille with layered rectangular elements, and a redesigned bumper with vertical housings for the fog lamps. These changes lend the Altroz a more mature and assertive appearance on the road.

The most significant visual update on the sides comes in flush-type illuminated door handles, a feature previously seen only on higher-end Tata models like the Nexon and Curvv. Completing the look are new 16-inch fan-style alloy wheels, replacing the earlier diamond-cut multi-spoke design.
At the rear, the facelifted Altroz features connected T-shaped LED tail lamps that enhance its width and lend a more modern road presence: a dual-tone bumper and bold “Altroz” lettering on the tailgate round off the visual updates. The facelift has five colour options, including new shades like Dune Glow and Ember Glow.
Interior
The cabin has received a significant upgrade as well. Drawing inspiration from the Nexon and Curvv, the dashboard now appears cleaner and more premium. Higher variants get dual 10.25-inch screens — one for the infotainment system and the other for the digital instrument cluster. The new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo adds a distinct touch.

The feature list is extensive, particularly in the top-spec Accomplished Plus S variant. Highlights include:
- Wireless phone charging with fast charging support
- Climate control with rear AC vents
- Electrically operated single-pane sunroof
- Ambient lighting
- Blind spot monitor
- 360-degree camera
- Connected car technology with over-the-air updates
- Customisable audio modes and an air purifier
Even the base Smart variant gets safety features like six airbags, ESP, and flush door handles, making it one of the safest cars in the segment from the entry point itself.

Tata Motors has updated its variant naming strategy. The Altroz facelift will now be available in Smart, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, Accomplished S, and S trims. Each variant is tailored to suit different customer preferences. For example:

Powertrains
Tata has chosen to retain the existing set of engines for the Altroz, ensuring reliability and familiarity. The options include:
- A 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine (88 PS, 115 Nm)
- A 1.2-litre petrol with CNG (73.5 PS, 103 Nm)
- A 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine (90 PS, 200 Nm) — the only diesel hatchback in India
Depending on the variant and powertrain, transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT), and 5-speed AMT. While there is no official confirmation yet on the 120 PS turbo-petrol engine from the Altroz Racer, sources suggest that it could be introduced as a separate performance variant later in the year.
Expected Pricing
While official pricing is yet to be revealed, the facelifted Altroz is expected to carry a slight premium over the outgoing model, which was priced between Rs 6.65 lakh and Rs 11.30 lakh (ex-showroom). With the new features, visual appeal, and improved safety tech, the Altroz now sits firmly among rivals like the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Nissan Magnite.
It also faces crossover-like competition from the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter, especially for buyers who want an SUV-like stance in a compact footprint.
Wrap Up
The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift is more than a cosmetic update. It reflects Tata Motors’ growing commitment to design, technology, and safety, even in the mass-market segments. While the core remains unchanged mechanically, the significant upgrades in features and aesthetics ensure that the Altroz remains one of the most compelling options in the premium hatchback space.
Stay tuned for pricing details on May 22. Tata Motors seems ready to stir up the segment once again.
