Despite its global woes, Nissan sees a bright future in India. It aims to rebuild its presence with a lineup of new, cost-effective vehicles designed specifically for Indian consumers. The Indian market presents a unique opportunity for the automaker, especially as demand grows for affordable, practical, and family-friendly vehicles. Nissan plans to launch four new models by the end of the 2026 financial year, with at least one or two more coming by 2027.

Upcoming MPV: Based on Renault Triber

The first product in this revival strategy will be a sub-4-metre multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), expected to launch by the end of 2025. Based on the CMF-A+ platform, this MPV will share its roots with the Renault Triber but will feature Nissan’s distinct styling. It is designed for Indian families, offering three rows of seating, a spacious cabin, and a comfortable ride without compromising affordability.
Compact SUV to Rival Creta and Others

Following the MPV, Nissan will introduce a new compact SUV in early 2026. This SUV will be a mechanical cousin of the next-generation Renault Duster but will feature a bold new design inspired by the Nissan Patrol. The vehicle is expected to include innovative technologies and premium materials while maintaining the ruggedness that defines Nissan’s global SUV lineup. It will directly compete with models like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Skoda Kushaq.
Seven-Seater SUV on the Horizon
About six to twelve months after the launch of the five-seater SUV, Nissan plans to introduce a larger, seven-seat version. This model will target customers looking for more space and utility. It will compete with the Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV700, although it may be slightly smaller. This SUV will further strengthen Nissan’s portfolio in the high-demand C-segment SUV space.
Nissan EV
Nissan is gearing up to launch its electric vehicle in India by 2027. The big question now is whether this will be a retrofitted EV version of the popular Magnite or a completely new model built on a dedicated skateboard platform designed for electric vehicles. According to sources close to the company, Nissan is leaning towards the latter—a ground-up EV developed on a skateboard-style architecture.
