Kia India has officially taken the wraps off the Carens Clavis, a new premium MPV that will be sold alongside the existing Carens. While both vehicles share the same platform, the Clavis distinguishes itself through design upgrades, a more upmarket feature list, and enhanced safety equipment. The model’s booking will commence on May 9, 2025, via Kia’s official website and dealerships. The unofficial bookings for the car had begun earlier.

Design
The Carens Clavis adopts Kia’s latest design language, inspired by the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ philosophy. Design highlights include a reworked front fascia with sharp angular elements, triangular three-pod LED headlamps, new 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a connected LED tail light bar. While the silhouette remains similar to the Carens, subtle visual changes at the front and rear help position the Clavis as a more upscale alternative.
Interior

Inside, the Clavis introduces a dual 12.3-inch digital display setup (a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster), updated seat upholstery, and a new Syros-inspired two-spoke steering wheel. Depending on the variant, the MPV retains its three-row configuration and will be available in both 6- and 7-seat layouts.
Variants

Kia offers the Clavis in seven variants: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX, and HTX+. Only the HTX+ trim offers a 6-seater configuration as an option, while others will come in the standard 7-seat format.
Features
Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, four-way powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, sliding second-row seats, connected car features, and a dual-view dashcam.
Safety

On the safety front, the Clavis has six standard airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a blind spot monitor, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, and driver attention warning.
Powertrain
Under the hood, the Clavis retains the powertrain options from the Carens, including the 115 hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 160 hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and 116 hp 1.5-litre diesel. A new 6-speed manual transmission option for the turbo-petrol variant has been added, expanding the drivetrain choices.
Pricing
The Carens Clavis will be available in eight exterior colours, including an exclusive Ivory Silver Gloss shade. While pricing details are yet to be announced, industry estimates suggest a starting price of around ₹13 lakh (ex-showroom price)
