Tata Motors has officially launched the much-awaited Tata Harrier EV in India, with prices starting at ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric SUV, first showcased in its production form at the Auto Expo 2025, represents a significant step forward for Tata’s EV lineup. Notably, it is the only Tata EV to offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The company has announced that bookings will open on July 2, 2025. Under the hood, the Harrier EV has two battery pack options—65kWh and 75kWh—with either a single-motor (rear-wheel-drive) or dual-motor (all-wheel-drive) setup.

This powertrain can deliver a combined output of 390bhp and up to 504Nm of torque. Tata claims the larger battery offers an MIDC range of up to 627km on a single charge.

The SUV can add a 250km range with fast-charging support in just 15 minutes. For thrill-seekers, a Boost Mode propels the Harrier EV from 0-100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds, making it one of the fastest Tata EVs yet.

Exterior

While retaining the overall silhouette of the ICE-based Harrier, the EV version features several EV-specific styling elements. These include a blanked-off grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers with vertical silver slats, “.ev” badging, and aerodynamically optimized 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Tata offers five exterior paint options—Stealth Black, Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, and Pristine White—each mapped to specific trims to ensure a distinctive look for each variant.

Interior

The interior of the Harrier EV follows Tata’s new-age EV design language, as seen in models like the Curvv EV and Nexon EV. The cabin sports a clean dual-tone white and grey theme with leatherette upholstery. The centerpiece is a large 14.5-inch QLED touchscreen infotainment system with Dolby Atmos support and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional features include a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats with memory and Boss Mode, a wireless charging pad, and a premium 10-speaker JBL audio system. It also gets six terrain modes, including Mud Ruts, Rock Crawl, and Sand, to enhance off-road performance.

Safety

In terms of safety, Tata hasn’t held back. The Harrier EV offers seven airbags (six as standard), a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, auto park assist, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It also features an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Tata has also integrated several EV-specific technologies, such as V2L (vehicle-to-load), V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle charging), a transparent bonnet view, and a digital IRVM for visibility.

Rivals

With its competitive pricing, high-end features, and robust performance, the Tata Harrier EV is positioned to take on strong rivals in the segment, like the Mahindra XUV.e9 and BYD Atto 3. Its all-wheel-drive capability, long-range battery, and tech-packed interiors make it a compelling contender in the premium electric SUV category.
