Tata Motors currently sells 12 models in India. Out of those 12 models – 4 are compact SUVs, 4 are hatchback cars, 2 are compact sedans and remaining 2 are SUVs. Their upcoming models include – Tata Harrier EV, Tata Avinya.
Tata Motors was established in the year 1945. Initially the company was focused on developing commercial vehicles. Later in the 1990s, the company decided to foray into passenger vehicle segment. Some of the notable Tata cars include Tata Safari, Tata Sierra, Tata Indica, Tata Sumo.
Tata Motors is focusing heavily on the EV segment and enjoys 65% market share in EV space. Their first EV – Nexon EV has been received well by the market. Since then, Tata Motors has introduced Tata Tigor EV, Tata Tiago EV and Tata Punch EV to strengthen its EV portfolio.
In 2008, the company acquired Jaguar – Land Rover from Ford Motors. Despite initial setbacks the group has been able to turnaround Jaguar-Land Rover around the globe.
