Citroen to reveal this Tata Curvv Rival on March 27

Citroen has revealed the official name for its future Coupe SUV, which used to be called the C3X. The French car company will show off the first pictures of the new model, which will be called the Basalt, on March 27.

Exterior

Citroen’s CMP platform supports both the Basalt and the C3 Aircross mid-size SUVs. The Basalt is different from the C3 Aircross by having a coupe-like roofline that slopes down and a redesigned back profile. There are square-shaped tail lamps and a shark fin antenna in the teasing picture. Split headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a number of two-tone color choices are all likely to be part of the design.

Powertrain

Citroen’s 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 109bhp and 190Nm of torque will likely power the Basalt. It will come with both manual and automatic six-speed transmissions.

It has some things in common with the C3 Aircross, like the CMP platform and engine, but we can expect some highlights such as the extra chrome bits that are not present in the C3 Aircross.

Expected Features

The Basalt is expected to be equipped with features such as – LED taillights and a sharkfin antenna, front seats with air vents, AC vents in the back, a wireless charging pad, an electrically adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control etc. In addition to these we can also expect electric folding side mirrors, cruise control, wireless charging, LED headlights, push-button start, and keyless entry are some of the features that people are expecting to see.

Competitors

Citroen’s second C-segment car is the Basalt, which sits above the C3 Aircross SUV and looks like a four-door coupe with a high ride height. The Basalt will go up against the Tata Curvv and other mid-size SUVs when it comes out in a few months.

Citroen, which debuted with its sub-4 meter SUV C3 has seen a luke warm response in India. However with the new Basalt, the French automaker giant is gearing to compete in the compact SUV segment.
