Mahindra has trademarked the name “Scorpio X” in India. This has led to reports that the Scorpio X could be the name of their Global Pik Up concept that was based on Scorpio N. The Global Pik Up is scheduled for production in 2025. The prototype, spotted last year, incorporated design elements from Scorpio N and taillights reminiscent of the first-gen Scorpio.
The anticipated Scorpio X, or the Global Pik Up, is expected to feature a new-generation mHawk diesel engine coupled with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Additionally, it is likely to offer a 4WD system. The trademarking of the name aligns with Mahindra’s ongoing efforts to expand its product portfolio and presence in various international markets.
Styling cues for the Scorpio X draw inspiration from the Scorpio N, featuring a robust appearance with a modified front profile, showcasing a new all-black grille, LED headlights with DRLs, and a rugged bumper with a winch. The side profile boasts additional elements such as a snorkel, new alloy wheels, lifted suspension, roof rails, LED light bar, side steps, and a sizeable loading bay area. LED tail lights and a rugged rear bumper define the rear profile.
Internally, the Scorpio X is expected to maintain a design similar to the Scorpio N, with new features such as Level-2 ADAS, Trailer Sway Mitigation, All-Around Airbag Protection, Drowsy Driver Detection, and 5G Connectivity. While specific engine details remain undisclosed, Mahindra is likely to offer the same diesel and petrol engine options available for the Scorpio N, accompanied by the 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system.
Mahindra unveiled the Global Pik Up concept on Independence Day last year. The production version, set to launch in 2025, aims to cater to markets in South Africa, ANZ and the ASEAN region in a phased manner. The Scorpio X will be built on a new-generation ladder frame platform designed at the Mahindra India Design Studio.
