Founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, Porsche is a prestigious automobile brand owned by the Volkswagen Group. The Indian arm of Porsche was established in 2004 and currently imports its models through the CBU route. The model lineup includes the Macan, Cayenne, 718, 911, and Panamera, with the Taycan and Cayenne Coupe expected to join soon. Porsche India has showrooms in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Porsche made its debut in the electric vehicle market with the Taycan, which was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show in Turbo and Turbo S variants. The Taycan is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2019.
