BMW India Pvt. Ltd. commenced operations in 2007 and has since become one of the largest luxury car manufacturers in the country. The German automaker, which also owns the Mini brand, operates a manufacturing facility in Chennai, a parts warehouse in Mumbai, a training center in Gurgaon NCR, and numerous BMW and Mini dealerships nationwide. BMW offers a diverse range of luxury cars in India, including sedans, SUVs, coupe SUVs, sports cars, and roadsters.
The current lineup includes the 2 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Limousine, the locally assembled 3 Series M340i xDrive, 5 Series, 6 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, 8 Series Gran Coupe, X1, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, Z4 Roadster, M2 Competition, M5 Competition, M8 Coupe, X3 M, and X5 M Competition. BMW has also entered the electric vehicle market with the launch of the iX xDrive SUV, which competes with the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron, and Jaguar I-Pace. The iX xDrive features two electric motors producing a combined 326 PS of power and 630 Nm of torque, with a 76.6 kWh battery that offers a range of 425 km (WLTP cycle). BMW claims the iX xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h.
