The Volvo Group, a Swedish multinational, is known for providing commercial transport solutions like trucks, buses, construction equipment, marine and industrial drive systems, aerospace components, and financial services. The brand began its journey in 1927, with the first series-produced Volvo car, the Volvo ÖV4, coming off the production line in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since then, Volvo has grown into one of the world’s largest manufacturers of heavy trucks, buses, and construction equipment, employing over 83,000 people with production facilities in 25 countries and operations in more than 185 markets.
Volvo Cars, a subsidiary of the Swedish Volvo Group, was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. It became a part of the Geely Automotive Group in 2010. The company operates an assembly plant on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka, and its current Indian portfolio includes the S60, S90, V90 Cross Country, XC40, XC60, and XC90.
The XC90 is also available in a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) variant, the only hybrid model currently offered by Volvo in India. In 2019, Volvo’s performance brand, Polestar, unveiled the all-electric Polestar 2, while also introducing a new range of hybrid engines that will be available across its model range.
